Some waste items may require special handling. For additional information, click on the links below: Bulky Waste items (such as electronics, furniture and appliances) often contain components that may cause pollution or they may be too large for a regular waste hauler to collect them. Items containing refrigerant-Federal law requires that items manufactured to contain refrigerant must be evacuated by a properly trained and certified technician in order to reduce the risk of the release of refrigerant into the atmosphere. It is illegal to cut or intentionally break the refrigerant lines on any automobile or appliance. Waste tires-The State of Arkansas has a comprehensive waste tire program. Whole tires may not be disposed of in landfills in Arkansas unless it is a waste tire mono-fill. The Benton County Solid Waste District also operates the Waste Tire District for our county. Household hazardous waste-Some household wastes are likely to create a pollution or health hazard due to the components of the item. The District operates a Household Hazardous Waste program to handle this material. Yard/Green Waste-State law prohibits yard waste from being placed into landfills.
