Household Hazardous Waste (sometimes known as household chemicals or household pollutants) Many household products are considered household hazardous waste (HHW) because they contain hazardous ingredients that are dangerous or harmful to people, animals and the environment. The District provides a HHW Collection Program for materials generated by households in Benton County as a result of normal residential activities. Approved materials are limited to: Home Maintenance / Improvement Products, Lawn and Garden Products, Household Cleaners, Personal Use Products, Automotive Products and other miscellaneous household products including batteries, fluorescent bulbs, and sharps. ACCEPTABLE MATERIALS Benton County households may drop-off specified amounts of acceptable materials at no charge through the District's Household Hazardous Waste program. Click here for a list of Acceptable Materials and Volumes. Households may dispose of the acceptable volumes of residentially generated materials indicated at no charge.
Non-residential material, such as small business, industrial or commercially-generated material, is not covered by the Household Hazardous Waste Program.
